Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Remarks:
only melting observed
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test was properly conducted and documented, hence, the results can be considered reliable. Disodium 1,3,4-thiadiazole-2,5-dithiolate has not to be considered as flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability (solids) was determined according to the test method A.10. "Flammability (solids)" as described in theCouncil Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 laying down test methods pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 that is pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 the test item Disodium 1,3,4-thiadiazole-2,5-dithiolate has not to be considered as flammable.

Description of key information

A flammability (solid) study with the test substance was performed according to test method A.10. Based on the results obtained (substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period, only melting observed), the test substance is not flammable.

Flammability – Emission of flammable gases in contact with water was waived based on experience in production and handling as well as Flammability-pyrophoric solid as the test substance in its distributed form is known to be stable in contact with air for long period and there are no chemical groups present that would imply pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on results of a flammability (solid) study. The test substance is not flammable, does not spontaneously ignite and does not emit flammable gases.
