Conclusion on classification

Short-term aquatic toxicity data are available for two trophic levels (invertebrates and algae). The acute effect values for daphnids (Daphnia magna) and algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) are 0.63 mg/L and 0.99 mg/L, respectively. The substance needs to be classified for acute toxicity as Category 1 (CLP Table 4.1.0.a).

Long-term aquatic toxicity data is available for algae with a NOErC of 0.16 mg/L. The substance is not readily degradable. The combination of the above information would warrant Chronic 2 (H411) according to CLP Table 4.1.0.b (i). In addition, because only one long-term toxicity endpoint is available, chronic classification needs to be based on both acute and chronic data and the worst case classification is to be applied. The substance is not readily biodegradable, has a log Kow of 5.02 -5.18 and the lowest L(E)C50 value is 0.13 mg/L. Based on this the substance would be classified Chronic 1 (H410) per CLP Table 4.1.0 b (iii). As the most stringent needs to be applied the substance should be classified as Chronic 1 (H410).

In conclusion, the substance needs to be classified as Category Chronic 1 (H410), according to EU CLP (EC1272/2008) and its updates.
