Reference
Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:
The statement as presented in the study report (see below in quotes) was based on the molecular structure of the substance (see Reference substance '4-(cyclohexylamino)butane-1-sulfonic acid').
In accordance with UN ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.6 (RTDG- Manual of Tests and Criteria) Appendix 6-Screening procedures-Screening procedures for substances which may have explosive properties, the acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives does not need to be applied.

Full statement as presented in the study report:
"A test item is considered explosive when it can react to produce very rapid increases in temperature or pressure.
The molecular structure of the test item is shown in Paragraph 4.1. The test item does not contain chemical groups which are associated with explosive properties. Since the purity of the test item is determined at 99.94% (see Appendix 2), the impurities were not taken into account, as no effects from the impurities are expected.
In conclusion, 4-(cyclohexylamino)butane-1-sulfonic acid has no explosive properties."

Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information

Description of key information

No explosive properties (based on structural features).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance does not need to be classified for the CLP hazard 'Explosives' according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
