Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A study to assess the surface active properties of 2-(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol found that the concentration response curve was almost ideal (ie the curve was almost linear) indicating that it has negligible surface activity. From the data in the study, it is possible to predict that the surface tension of a 0.1% solution is likely to be similar to that of pure water. This surface activity will be typical of the other similar components of this short homologous series of increasing molecular weight through increasing numbers of ethylene oxide monomer units. From this information it is possible to predict with certainty that significant surface activity is not a property of the substance that is the subject of this registration dossier.
