Conclusion on classification

- Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates: (Daphnia magna): 48h-EC50 is 0.25 mg/L (reference 6.1.3-1)

- Toxicity to algae: (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): 72-h ErC50 is 2.54 mg/L and the 72-h ErC10 is 0.52 mg/L (reference 6.1.5-1)

- Biodegradation: screening test: After 28-d test 0 % biodegradation of the test substance occurred. Therefore, the test substance cannot be considered as readily biodegradable (reference 5.2.1-1)

Daphnia is the most sensitive aquatic species with an EC50 of 0.25 mg/L. In conclusion, the substance has  to be classified with regard to environmental acute toxic chronic cat. 1 according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182

Daphnia is the most sensitive aquatic species with short-term EC50 of 0.25 mg/L. For derivation of classification and labeling also the Algae 72-h ErC50 value based on growth was determined as 2.54 mg/L has to be taken into account. Under the test conditions the percentage of ready biodegradation of the test substance was 0 % after 28 days based on its ThODNH4. The test item can be considered to be not ready biodegradable. Thus, the substance has to be classified as environmental chronic toxic cat. 1 (H410:Very Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182.

Supporting information from QSAR:

Acute aquatic toxicity:

48 h, EC50 (Daphnia magna): 7.206 mg/L

72 h, ErC50 (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): 1.531 mg/L

Aquatic chronic toxicity:

72 h, NOEC (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata): 0.691 mg/L

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable.

Partition coefficient: log Kow = -0.3 at 20 °C

Classification according to CLP

The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The test substance was found to be not readily biodegradable under the test conditions. In all aquatic tests the test item showed toxic effect on the tested species. The determined EC50 for Daphnia magna was 7.206 mg/L and for green algae was 1.531 mg/L. The NOEC in the algal inhibition study was determined to be 0.691 mg/L. Based on these results, the substance is no classified as short-term (acute) aquatic toxic but is classified as long-term (chronic) aquatic toxic in category 1 (H410) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182.
