Description of key information

The substance is acutely toxic to aquatic organisms.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity to fish

Based on a weight-of-evidence approach using experimental and estimated data, it can be concluded that the substance is acutely harmful to fish (96 -h LC50 > 10 to 306 mg/L).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

The substance is acutely harmful to aquatic invertebrates based on the results from an experimental study (OECD 202, GLP, Daphnia magna). The 48 -h EC50 was 32 mg/L (nominal; analytically verified; BASF SE, 2019; report no.50E0503/17X374).

Toxicity to algae

The substance is acutely toxic to fish based on the results from an experimental study (OECD 201, GLP, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata). The 72 -h ErC50 was 4.96 mg/L and the 72 -h ErC10 was 1.56 mg/L (geometric mean measured; BASF SE, 2019; report no.60E0503/17X373).

Toxicity to microorganisms

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations based on the results of a respiration inhibition study (OECD 209, GLP, activated sludge, municipal). The 3 -h EC50 was 290 mg/L (nominal; BASF SE, 2019; report no. 08G0503/17G679).
