Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Principles of method if other than guideline:
This test measures the possible ignition of solid Beta in contact with a hot surface. This is not the same as heating the material with a naked flame at temperatures of 800+C. However, there are no conditions, either in manufacture, or in downstream use where the material is exposed to temperatures of 800+C. However, the maximum temperature the material could possibly be exposed to is <400C. The results from the test also show that smoke and discolouration occurred at 200C, 300C and 400C tests. This is due to the material subliming from the surface and reforming as a solid away from the heated surface but there was was no ignition or signs of charring/glowing/flame or exotherm throughout any of the tests indicating non-flammability.
