Study design

Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
The samples (HPLC-vials) were taken out of the water bath and cooled down to room temperature.
Then the vials were placed in the HPLC-auto sampler and the analysis was started as soon as
posible. At the same time the pH was measured.
Because the concentration of the test solutions was chosen that way, that no sample preparation
(dilution ...) had to be performed the period of time between sampling and measurement was mean.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
Immediately after application (0 h), recoveries of the samples throughout the tests were 97.68-99.62% of the nominal applied concentration.
Executive summary:

The abiotic degradation of the test substance Cl-DAEP was determined according to EEC-guideline
92/69/EEC 0.7.
The rate of degradation was measured at three different pH-values (4, 7, and 9). At non of the tested
pH-values the test substance was completely stable. There was no significant dependance of the
hydrolysis reaction on the pH. At all test conditions further testing according to the test guideline was
performed. In each case a linear dependence between the time of degradation and the natural
logarithm of the test substance concentration was obtained, which means, that the hydrolysis reaction
was pseudo-first order.
For the main tests, suitable reaction temperatures were choosen and the rate of hydrolysis was
measured. The rate constant and the half-life times of the test substance at 25 °C were extrapolated
using the equation according to arrhenius. The following half-lives were determined:

DT50 at 25°C and pH 4 (d) = approx. 220

DT50 at 25°C and pH 7 (d) = approx. 203

DT50 at 25°C and pH 9 (d) = approx. 220
