Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Small Vinyl Ester was tested in a fresh water algal growth inhibition test, using Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata as the test organism. The study was based on the OECD Guideline No. 201, 2006, and the procedures were designed to meet the requirements for test methods described in the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Part C.3, 2008; amended by EC No. 761/2009. Due to low solubility of Small Vinyl Ester in the test medium, concentration levels that might reduce algal growth by =50% were not reached. Hence the EC50 for both the growth rate reduction and the yield inhibition were beyond the range tested, and is concluded to exceed the TWA concentration of 1.1 mg/l. With 9.8% reduction of the growth rate at the highest test concentration of 1.1 mg/L (measured), the NOEC/EC10 is arbitrary set at 1.1 mg/L (measured).
