PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Small Vinyl Ester is not classified as a PBT Substance. Although the substance is not considered to be readily biodegradable, it did degrade by 21% over 28 days and has a half-life of 37 days, which is below the P criteria for freshwater, estuarine and marine waters. A predicted BCF of 292.6 L/kg (wet weight), based on a measured Log Kow value of 4.63, is below the B criterion of >2,000. In addition, the substance is of low toxicity to aquatic organisms. Small Vinyl Ester did not induce acute toxicity in aquatic organisms below the T criterion of <0.01 mg/L and overall showed low potential for toxicity in algae, invertebrates, fish and microorganisms (activated sludge) above the limit of water solubility.
