Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test O.2 (Test for oxidizing liquids)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The test is carried out according to “34.4.2 Test O.2: Test for oxidizing liquids” in “UN, Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods - Manual of Tests and Criteria (ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.5)”. This test method is designed to measure the potential for the liquid sample to increase the burning rate or burning intensity of a combustible substance when the two are thoroughly mixed or to form a mixture which spontaneously ignites. The liquid sample is mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio, by mass, with fibrous cellulose, the mixture heated in a pressure vessel and the rate of pressure rise determined, and compared with another mixture from a control item and fibrous cellulose.
GLP compliance:
no
Sample tested:
other: The liquid sample is mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio, by mass, with fibrous cellulose
Parameter:
mean pressure rise time
Result:
> 60 s
Conclusions:
The sample is not an oxidizing liquid substance.
