Details on results:
9.3. Results
9.3.1. Preliminary Test
After 1 day of stirring, a gas bubble was observed in all three vials. At the end of the 47-hour stirring period, one vial was opened and analysed diluted and undiluted. The maximum content of test item dissolved was < 0.4 mg/L.
9.3.2. Main Study
After 1 day of stirring, a gas bubble was observed in all of the three vials. The results for the samples taken at 24, 48 and 72 hours are given in Table 4.
Analysis of triplicate samples from the same vial, showed good repeatability of the analytical method indicating that no undissolved test item was present in the samples. The results of the water solubility after stirring for 24, 48 and 72 hour test samples however show a much larger spread due to the nature of the test item. It is not possible to obtain an accurate value water solubility. Based on the results, water solubility of the test item is reported to be ≤ 0.1 mg/L.
A small response at the retention time of the test item was detected in the chromatograms of the pretreated sample from the blank water mixture. It was considered to derive from carry- over in the analytical system since similar responses were found in the analytical blanks. The calculated amount of 0.073 ng/mL (calculated by extrapolation of the calibration curve) was considered to have no significant effect on the results of the test samples.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The slow-stirring flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of Tétradécafluorohexane.
The water solubility of the test item at 20°C was ≤0.1 mg/L. The pH of the aqueous samples was 7.1 and 7.2.
