Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from further exposure. If unconsciousness occurs,

seek immediate medical assistance and call a physician. If

breathing has stopped, use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. In

all cases, remove contaminated clothing immediately,

launder before reuse.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek

immediate medical attention; if medical assistance is not

immediately available, flush for an additional 15 minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. If widespread contact,

immediately remove contaminated clothing under a safety

shower and wash exposed areas with  soap and large

quantities of water, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give large quantites of milk or

water. Seek medical attention (call a physician

immediately). Do not induce vomiting or give anything by

mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Use water to keep

containers cool and water spray to disperse vapours and

protect workers attempting to seal leaks.

Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Combustion products may

contain carbon, nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus oxides.

Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing

apparatus. Prevent run-off from entering streams or

drinking water supplies.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spill and absorb material on fire retardant-treated

sawdust, diatomaceous earth etc. Shovel up and dispose of

at an approved incineration facility. Remove leaking

containers to a separate area. Personnel must use

protective equipment.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid personal contact. Use in a well ventilated area.

Earth all transfer equipment and ensure area is bonded.

Wear chemical type goggles, a face shield and protective

clothing (impervious suits and boots for large quantities).

Storage: Store separately or outside. Ensure storage containers are

bonded and earthed. Drums must be fitted with self-closing

valves, pressure vacuum bungs and flame arrestors.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Other dangers: Substance may react with strong oxidisers.

Chemical reaction with water: Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No known chemical method for neutralising the hazardous

effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site or by discharge to

water is not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method of disposal in accordance with local

regulations. Either neat or as a solution in oil the

substance may be burned in an enclosed, controlled burner

for fuel value or disposal. Waste gas treatment should be

used to remove nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus oxides.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance has a low water solubility. Removal from

waste water (as an oil phase) using an oil/water separator

is recommended (this will not remove the toxic fraction).

Discharge to waste water is not recommended as the

substance may be inhibitory to microbial activity.

Treatment of the waste water using activated carbon after

separation to reduce contamination to a minimum should be

used.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from preparations by the public is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable at the concentrations present in

preparations.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Preparations may be incinerated at an approved facility

fitted with waste gas treatment for nitrogen, sulphur and

phosphorus oxides.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Dispose of preparations in oil recovery systems.
