Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
July 14, 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Version / remarks:
2008
Deviations:
no
Key result
Parameter:
thermal sensitivity - Koenen test: diameter of the orifice plate
Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement

A DSC measurement in a closed glass crucible with the test item showed no significant endothermal or exothermal effects up to the final test temperature of 500 °C.

The DSC measurement showed no exothermal effect up to the final test temperature of 500 °C. As the test item consisted mainly of inorganic compounds, explosive properties could not be excluded with DSC as screening procedure. Therefore, the composition of the test item was assessed in order to exclude explosive properties in accordance to European Commission Regulation (EC) No.

440/2008, Method A.14.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item had no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, method A.14.

Description of key information

The test item had no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, method A.14.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item does not contain any functional groups which may indicate explosive properties. Therefore, it can be concluded that the substance has not to be considered as explosive.
