Additional information on results:
Observations: Solvent control plates gave counts of revertant colonies within the normal range. All positive control chemicals gave increases in revertants, either with or without the metabolising system as appropriate, within expected ranges. No statistically significant increase in the number of revertant colonies was recorded for any of the bacterial strains with any dose of the substance, either with or without metabolic activation. The substance was found to be non-mutagenic under the conditions of the test.
Conclusions:
Based on the results of this study it is concluded that the test item is not mutagenic in the Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay and in the Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay.
Executive summary:

The test item was tested in the Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay with four histidine-requiring strains of Salmonella typhimurium (TA1535, TA1537, TA100 and TA98) and in the Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay with a tryptophan-requiring strain of Escherichia coli WP2uvrA. The test item was tested up to concentrations of 3330 µg/plate in the absence and presence of 10% (v/v) S9-mix in all strains. Toxicity was observed in all tester strains at the test substance concentration starting from 3330 µg/plate. Based on the results of this study it is concluded that the test item is not mutagenic in the Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay and in the Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. Based on available data on genetic toxicity, the test item is not classified and labelled as mutagen according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the tenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2017/776.
