Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time over 250 mm for metal powders or metal alloys
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Any other information on results incl. tables

A hot flame from a gas burner was applied to the end of the train of test substance for 2 minutes, as the test substance did not combust the flame was applied for a further 2 minutes.

The test was performed in duplicate. The burning/smouldering of the test item reached approximately 35 mm in the 4 minute test time.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
On the basis of the results from this study, the test item is not considered highly flammable and no further testing is required.
Executive summary:

A GLP study was performed in accordance with EU Method A10 to assess the flammability of Escherichia Coli dehalogenase catalyst. An unbroken powder train approximately 250mm long was formed and a hot flame applied to one end for an initial period of 2 minutes. The test substance did not combust during this period therefore the flame was applied for an additional 2 minutes. The test was performed in duplicate. Since combustion/smoldering of the test substance did not reach the 200-mm mark within the 4 minute period during which the flame was applied, the test substance is not considered highly flammable. No further testing is required.

Based on the results of this test, no classification with respect to flammability is required.
