Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study performed under GLP. All relevant validity criteria were met.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The determination was carried out using a pour point procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.1 Melting/Freezing Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008, and Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
inspected: June 2015; signature: September 2015
Type of method:
capillary method
Melting / freezing pt.:
< 253 K
Atm. press.:
1 atm
Decomposition:
no
Sublimation:
no
Remarks on result:
other: < -21 ± 3 °C (pour point)

Measured temperatures were converted from °C to K using T = t + 273.15

T = temperature (K)

t = temperature (°C)

Preliminary test:

The pour point of the preliminary test was less than -20°C (<253 K)

Definitive test:

Overall pour point result; mean (n=2) : less than -21°C (<252 K)

Stationary point was determined to be < -24°C (< -255 K) in duplicate.

Conclusions:
The pour point of the substance has been determined to be less than 252 ± 3 K or < -21 ± 3 °C. The melting point/freezing point is less than 253 K or < -20°C.
Executive summary:

The pour point temperature of the test substance was determined using EU Method A.1 and OECD TG 102 capillary method under GLP. Following preliminary testing in a definitive test performed in duplicate the pour point was determined less than -21 °C (< 252 K). Applicant assessment indicates since the test substance was observed to flow as a liquid at temperatures > -20 °C; the test item melting point/freezing point can be considered to be < -20 °C. At temperatures greater than or equal to -20 °C (or 253 K) the test substance is a liquid at atmospheric pressure.
