First-aid measures

General information

Remove affected person from source of contamination. Move affected person to fresh air and keep warm and at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Get medical attention. Keep affected person away from heat, sparks and flames.

Inhalation

Move affected person to fresh air at once. When breathing is difficult, properly trained personnel may assist affected person by administering oxygen. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Ingestion

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Give plenty of water to drink. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing.

Eye contact

Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Important! Immediately rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

General information

Effects may be delayed. Keep affected person under observation.

Inhalation

Irritation of nose, throat and airway.

Ingestion

May cause discomfort if swallowed. May cause stomach pain or vomiting. Drowsiness, dizziness, disorientation, vertigo.

Eye contact May cause severe eye irritation.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Notes for the doctor Effects may be delayed. Keep affected person under observation

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:

Foam. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemicals. Water spray, fog or mist.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:

None known.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Dust may form explosive mixture with air. Fire or high temperatures create: Carbon monoxide (CO). Carbon dioxide (CO2). Refer to section 10 of the safety data sheet for more information

on hazardous decomposition products. The product is flammable. Keep container tightly closed. Closed containers may rupture when exposed to extreme heat. Use water spray to keep fire exposed containers cool. Can form dust clouds that may explode on contact with

flames, heat and oxidisers.

- Advice for fire fighter:

Substance may explode on heating under confinement.

Protective actions during firefighting Move containers from fire area if it can be done without risk.

Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out. Control run-off water by containing and keeping it out of sewers and watercourses.

Special protective equipment for firefighters

Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and appropriate protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions:

Wear protective clothing as described in Section 8 of the safety data sheet. Follow precautions for safe handling described in the safety data sheet.

- Protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Follow precautions for safe handling described in the safety data sheet.

- Environmental precautions:

Do not discharge into drains or watercourses or onto the ground.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Eliminate all sources of ignition. No smoking, sparks, flames or other sources of ignition near spillage. Provide adequate ventilation. Collect spillage with a shovel and broom, or similar and reuse, if possible. Dispose of waste to licensed waste disposal site in accordance with the requirements of the local Waste Disposal Authority. Use non-sparking tools. Avoid contact with skin or inhalation of spillage, dust or vapour. Keep dust to a minimum; wet with water if

necessary.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:

Static electricity and formation of sparks must be prevented. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Use explosion proof electric equipment. Avoid spilling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Dust may form explosive mixture with air. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid inhalation of dust. Good personal hygiene procedures should be implemented. Wash hands and any other contaminated areas of the body with soap and water before leaving the work site. Empty containers should not be re-used.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep only in the original container. Flammable solid storage. LGK VCI 4.1 B (TRGS 510)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls:

Use explosion-proof general and local exhaust ventilation. Provide adequate general and local exhaust ventilation. Observe any occupational exposure limits for the product or ingredients.

Eye/face protection

Use approved safety glasses with side shields. Eyewear complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates eye contact is possible. The following protection should be worn: Chemical splash goggles or face shield.

Hand protection Wear protective gloves made of the following material: Neoprene. Nitrile rubber. Butyl rubber. The most suitable glove should be chosen in consultation with the glove supplier/manufacturer, who can provide information about the breakthrough time of the glove material.

Other skin and body protection

Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of substance contact and repeated or prolonged vapour/dust contact.

Hygiene measures

Do not smoke in work area. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Promptly remove any clothing that becomes contaminated. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Contaminated clothing should be placed in a closed container for disposal or decontamination. Warn cleaning personnel of any hazardous properties of the product.

Respiratory protection

If ventilation is inadequate, suitable respiratory protection must be worn. Wear a respirator fitted with the following cartridge: Particulate filter, type P2. In confined or poorly-ventilated spaces, a supplied-air respirator must be worn.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Dust may form explosive mixture with air.

Stability

Stable at normal ambient temperatures.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerisation will not occur under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid heat, flames and other sources of ignition.

Materials to avoid

Strong oxidising agents. Strong acids.

Hazardous decomposition products

Does not decompose when used and stored as recommended. Thermal decomposition or combustion products may include the following substances: Oxides of the following substances: Carbon. Organic or inorganic nitrogen compounds including traces of hydrogen cyanide.

Disposal considerations

General information

When handling waste, the safety precautions applying to handling of the product should be considered. Do not dump into any sewers, on the ground, or into any body of water. Not be to be disposed of together with household waste. Any disposal practice must be in compliance with all local and national laws and regulations. Handle and dispose contaminated packages in the same way as the product itself. Fully cured product residues are generally not regarded as hazardous waste.

Disposal methods

The product as supplied should be disposed of as hazardous waste according to European Directive 91/689/EEC. Empty containers must not be punctured or incinerated because of the risk of an explosion.

Waste class

The waste code number applies to actual wastes depending on its origin and not to substances or mixtures as placed on the market. Only the practical application of the user enables the proper allocation. Allocation of the waste code number according to the European Waste Catalogue (Commission Decision 2000/532/EC and 2001/118/EC) should be carried out in agreement with the regional waste disposal company and/or the supervisory authority.
