Results of test item:

The mean between both determinations gives for the melting point: 1.9°C to 7.7°C with standard deviation 0.0°C for the begin and 0.14°C for the end. estimated accuracy of + 0.2°C.

 Melting point/range  Begin  End
 First determination  1.9°C (275.1 K)  7.8°C  (281.0 K)
 Second determination  1.9°C  (275.1 K)  7.6°C  (280.8 K)

Validity:

 Parameter  Criterion  Found  Assessment
difference between duplicate determinations  < 0.5K  0.2K  valid
difference between begin and end of melting process  < 0.5K  0.2K  melting range is stated

The validity criterion of the difference between duplicate determinations for the begining and the end of the melting process was met. The test item PI2080 showed a melting range, no melting point. As the test item consists of a mixture, this is considered as normal.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Melting of the test item occurred progressively in a range of temperature :
- The mean temperature value of the beginning of melting (on 2 assays) was : 1.9°C
- The mean temperature value of the final stage of melting (on 2 assays) was : 7.7°C
Executive summary:

This study was conducted to determine the melting point of PI2080 by DSC method according to OECD guideline 102 and EU method A.1. using the capillary method.

The test item was heated with a defined heating rate until melting of the test item could be observed.

For the both assays, the range of temperature during the first and second measurement were measured to be 1.9°C - 7.7°C.

The result has been considered as reliable without restriction because the test was performed in compliance with OECD and EU guidelines giving scientifically valid results.
