Description of key information

Hydrolysis and stability of strontium 2-ethylhexanoate in the environment are most accurately evaluated by separately assessing the stability of its constituents strontium cations and 2-ethylhexanoate anions. Due to structural properties, hydrolysis is not expected to be an important fate path for 2-ethylhexanoate. In addition, 2-ethylhexanoate is readily biodegradable. Abiotic degradation including hydrolysis is not relevant for metals including strontium. Therefore hydrolysis is not expected to influence the environmental fate of strontium 2-ethylhexanoate.
