Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Strontium bis(2-ethylhexanoate) does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties. It is therefore considered to be void of any explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11 Column 2 and ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, section R.7.1.11, December 2016, the study does not need to be conducted, since strontium bis(2-ethylhexanoate) does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties.

Finally, it is noted that despite the long-term use of strontium bis(2-ethylhexanoate), it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations and derogation from testing is hereby applied for.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Strontium bis(2-ethylhexanoate) does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since explosive properties are considered non-relevant based on the lack of functional group.
