TEST ANIMALS
- Source: Elevage Scientifique des Dombes, Chatillon sur Chalaronne, France
- Age at study initiation: 13-14 weeks (males), 11-12 weeks (females)
- Weight at study initiation: 2127 g (male), 1927 and 2140 g (females)
- Housing: Animals were housed individually in stainless steel cages equipped with feed hoppers and drinking water bowls. Wood blocks (RCC Ltd, Füllinsdorf) and haysticks 4646 (batch no. 0302, Provimi Kliba AG) were provided for gnawing.
- Diet: pelleted standard Provimi Kliba 3418 rabbit maintenance diet (batch no. 43/03, Provima Kliba AG, Kaiseraugust, Switzerland), ad libitum
- Water: community tap water, ad libitum

Irritant / corrosive response data:
Cornea/ Iris: No effects on cornea and iris were observed during the study period in any animal.
Conjunctivae: Slight redness was observed in all animals at the 1 h reading and was persistent in two animals up to 24 h after treatment.
Chemosis: Slight swelling of the conjunctivae was noted in one animal at the 1 h examination.
Discharge: Slight ocular discharge was present in all animals at the 1 h examination.
Other effects:
No further local or system effects were reported.
