Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Version / remarks:
1996
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:

Analytical method:

Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:

Temp.:
35 °C
pH:

Calculation Method

The Pow and log Pow was calculated using the Rekker calculation method

Pow: 3.5x10^1

Log Pow = 1.55

HPLC method

In the chromatogram of the test solution, two major peaks and several small test substance peaks were observed.

The equation of the regression line was: log k’ = 0.613 × log Pow – 0.589 (r = 0.998, n = 12).

The log Pow of the two main components at neutral pH was:

2,2’-[(4-methylphenyl)imino] Diethanol, log Pow = 2.0

2-{[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl](4-methylphenyl)amino}ethanol, log Pow = 2.3

Conclusion

The partition coefficient was determined for the multi-constituent substance Reaction mass of 2,2'-[(4-methylphenyl)imino]bisethanol and Ethanol 2-[[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl](4-methylphenyl)amino]-

It was possible to distinguish between the two constituents in the HPLC due to the difference in molecular weights.

The log Pow of N,N-dihydroxyethyl-p-toluidine was determined to be equal to 2.0.

Description of key information
