Acute aquatic toxicity studies of the reaction mass of phosphorothioic triamide, N-butyl- (NBPT) and phosphorothioic triamide, N-propyl- (NPPT) are
available for three trophic levels.
Based on the structural similarities between NBPT and NPPT (NPPT is one CH2 -group shorter), it is assumed that the toxicity of NPPT is in the same range or even lower due its lower Kow value compared to NBPT.
The LC50/EC50 values detected for daphnia (Daphnia magna), fish (Oryzias latipes) and algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) were all > 120 mg/l..
In a respiration inhibition test with activated sludge an EC20 of 64 mg/L (nominal) was determined.
Chronic aquatic toxicity studies are not available.
