STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: at room temperature - Key result
- Melting / freezing pt.:
- 79 °C
- Conclusions:
- The melting point of FBSEE diol was determined to be 79 °C by the EU Method A.1.
- Executive summary:
The melting point of FBSEE diol was tested using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The melting temperature was determined as the average temperature of the effects obtained from five experiments. The study was conducted in accordance with EU Method A.1 and was GLP compliant; therefore the study is considered reliable without restrictions.
The DSC-curves obtained during the five experiments are included in attachments. In Experiment 1, two endothermic peaks between 50 °C and 100 °C were observed. The effects were most likely related to melting of the test item. In order to investigate the effects between 50 °C and 100 °C a repeated heating cycle was applied in Experiment 2. Two exothermic peaks between 25 °C and 75 °C were observed on cooling and endothermic peaks again observed between 50 °C and 100 °C in the second heating cycle. An experiment (curve 5) done at a higher heating rate showed that the lower temperature endothermic peak was rate-dependent and thus not related to melting. The melting temperature was determined as the average temperature of the effects obtained from Experiment 1 (79.547°C), Experiment 2 (78.953 °C), Experiment 3 (79.712 °C) and Experiment 4 (79.217 °C).
