Results:

Suspected decomposition was observed from 89.7°C with the release of colourless gas and the test sample moving up the tube. At 160°C the sample was observed to pop out of the tube with more sample ejected at 184°C. As a result further testing was stopped.

Under the study conditions, melting point of the test substance could not be determined due to decomposition at 89.7°C.

A study was conducted to determine the melting point of the test substance, using the capillary method (with photocell detection), according to OECD Guideline 102 and EU Method A.1, in compliance with GLP. During the study, suspected decomposition was observed from 89.7°C with the release of colourless gas and the test sample moving up the tube. At 160°C the sample was observed to pop out of the tube with more sample ejected at 184°C. As a result further testing was stopped. Under the study conditions, melting point of the test substance could not be determined due to decomposition at 89.7°C (Chilworth, 2018).
