The substance as such is a solid. However, the marketed product is an aqueous solution which cannot be transformed into a solid substance (by evaporation) due to strong hygroscopic properties of potassium-(S)-lactate. Thus, in accordance with REACH Annex XI, section 2, it is technically not possible to determine the relative self-ignition temperature of the solid substance.
