Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture

JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI testing does not appear scientifically necessary. The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flash point (in combination with their boiling point, the ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The substance has a high flashpoint (104 °C) and a boiling point of 211.9 °C not indicating flammability. With regards to flammability in contact with water, the structural features of the substance were evaluated and it was concluded that the substance does not contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when coming into contact with water or damp air (ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.8, 2014). No metals, transition metals, boron or silicon are present. Also, handling during the water solubility test confirms this conclusion. With regards to pyrophoric properties, evaluation of the structural features of the substance revealed that the substance does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air (ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.5, 2014).

Description of key information

The substance has a high flashpoint (104°C) and a boiling point of 211.9°C not indicating flammability. With regards to flammability in contact with water, the structural features of the substance were evaluated and it was concluded that the substance does not contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when coming into contact with water or damp air (see also ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.8, 2014).
