First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice:
First Aid responders should pay attention to self-protection and use the recommended protective clothing Move out of dangerous area. Get medical attention immediately. If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Keep patient warm and at rest. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

If inhaled:
If breathed in, move person into fresh air.
If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

In case of skin contact:
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with soap and plenty of water.
Cover wound with sterile dressing.

In case of eye contact:
Protect unharmed eye.
Remove contact lenses.
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids.
Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
Take victim immediately to hospital.
Continue rinsing eyes during transport to hospital.
Small amounts splashed into eyes can cause irreversible tis-sue damage and blindness.

If swallowed:
Rinse mouth with water.
Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water.
If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel.
Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

High volume water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during fire-fighting:

Container explosion may occur under fire conditions.

Hazardous combustion products:

See section “Stability and reactivity”.

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters:

Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:

Standard procedure for chemical fires.

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions:

Use personal protective equipment.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Avoid formation of aerosol.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Refer to protective measures listed in sections “Handling and storage” and “Exposure controls/personal protection”.

Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas.

Do not inhale aerosol.

Refer to the SDS section 15 for specific national regulation.

Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow contact with soil, surface or ground water.

Do not let product enter drains.

If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up:

Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section “Disposal considerations”).

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly while ob-serving environmental regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling:

Keep container tightly closed.

Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.

This product should be used only by all personnel thoroughly trained to handle it.

Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors.

Provide exhaust ventilation close to floor level.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Substance/product is flammable. Vapour/air-mixtures are explosive at intense warming. Fire fighting equipment must be available. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.

Hygiene measures:

General industrial hygiene practice. Store personal protection equipment in a clean location away from the work area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Remove and wash contaminated clothing and gloves, including the inside, before re-use. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be care-fully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Store in accordance with the particular national regulations. Store away from foodstuffs.

Advice on common storage:

See section “Stability and reactivity”.

Further information on storage stability:

Protect from frost, heat and sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Exposure controls

Personal protective equipment

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles

Hand protection

Material:

Nitrile rubber

Break through time:

> 480 min

Glove thickness:

>= 0,4 mm

Material:

butyl-rubber

Break through time:

> 480 min

Glove thickness:

>= 0,7 mm

Material:

Fluorinated rubber

Break through time:

> 480 min

Glove thickness:

>= 0,7 mm

Remarks:

Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). The choice of an appropriate glove does not only depend on its material but also on other quality features and is different from one producer to the other. The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves. Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water.

Be aware that in daily use the durability of a chemical resistant protective glove can be notably shorter than the break through time measured according to EN 374, due to the numerous outside influences (e.g. temperature). The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Skin and body protection:

Impervious clothing

Choose body protection according to the amount and con-centration of the dangerous substance at the work place.

Respiratory protection:

If used in closed systems or well-ventilated area breathing protection is not necessary.

In the case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter.

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an ap-proved filter.

The filter class for the respirator must be suitable for the max-imum expected contaminant concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when han-dling the product. If this concentration is exceeded, self-contained breathing apparatus must be used.

Filter type:

Combined inorganic and acidic gas/vapour, ammonia/amines and organic vapour type (ABEK)

Protective measures:

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

Do not dispose of with domestic refuse.

Do not dispose of waste into sewer.

Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with chemical or used container.

Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company.

Waste codes should be assigned by the user based on the application for which the product was used.

According to the European Waste Catalogue, Waste Codes are not product specific, but application specific.

Contaminated packaging:

Empty remaining contents.

Packaging that is not properly emptied must be disposed of as the unused product.

Do not re-use empty containers.

Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
