Experimental studies investigating the short-term toxicity of Sodium 2 –butoxyethyl sulfate (CAS No. 67656 -24 -0) to aquatic organisms are available for all trophic levels. All studies were performed under GLP conditions and according to standard OECD guidelines. No effects were observed for all trophic levels (algae, daphnia and fish) up to and including 100 mg/L.
Furthermore the toxicity to activated sludge microorganism was tested according to OECD 209. In this test no respiration inhibition of the activated sludge was determined up to 1000 mg/L test item concentration. Therefore, it is not anticipated that the substance inhibits the degradation process in sewage treatment plants.
