Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Phototransformation in air

Estimated half-lives for the components of this UVCB substance range from 1.1 to 2.7 hours.

Hydrolysis

Ether bonds are stable and do not hydrolyse to a significant extent at environmental relevant conditions. This has been confirmed in an OECD 111 study with the structurally related substance Diaminotoluene, ethoxylated and propoxylated (CAS# 67800-94-6) in which the substance was stable at pH 4, 7, 9 at 50 degrees Celsius during 120 hours (Bayer Material Science AG, 2009).

Biodegradation

Biodegradation in water was tested in two screening studies according to OECD 301F (ready biodegradability) and OECD 302B (inherent biodegradability). The substance showed 22% biodegradability in the first test (Brixham Environmental Laboratory, 2009) and 84% biodegradability in the second test (Brixham Environmental Laboratory, 2010) . Although the substance is classified as "not ready biodegradable", it exhibits inherent (primary) biodegradability, and therefore is not expected to persist indefinitely in the environment.

Bioaccumulation

A QSAR calculation with BCFBAF v3.00 (U.S. EPA 2008) indicated a BCF 12.8 - 29.76 L/kg for a short and long representative molecular formula. The highest value is taken as a worst case approach.

Adsorption/desorption

The estimated log Koc values for homologous components of this UVCB substance range from 22 to 14430 L/kg for the lowest (least sorptive) and highest (most sorptive) molecular weight homologues. The components of this UVCB substance can be regarded as having low affinity for adsorption to soils and activated sludge biosolids.
