The target substance is hydrolytically unstable with hydrolysis half-life less than 30 minutes. Hydrolysis products include triethanolamine and hydrated zirconium dioxide. Zirconium dioxide is an inorganic substance and consider not relevant for toxicity evaluation. The intrinsic short-, long-term toxicities of the target substance is based on the two organic hydrolysis products.

         The ocatanol-water partition coefficient is -1.59 (log value) for the organic product. The target substance is therefore considered not persistent and no bioaccumulation potential.

         Based on the lowest 72-h EC50 to Desmodesmus subspicatus of 512 mg/l, and no other findings of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, toxicity to reproduction and long-term toxicity to target organs, the target substance is considered non-toxic.
