TGA EXPERIMENT (PRELIMINARY TEST)

Significant decrease of weight from 300°C. 25% weight loss at 408°C and 70% weight loss at 452°C.

After the experiment, an orange/brown molten residue remained in the sample container (original colour: white). The change of the colour indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.

 

DSC EXPERIMENT 1

An endothermic peak between 125°C and 175°C was observed. The extrapolated onset temperature of the peak was 155.328°C. The effect was most likely obtained due to melting of the test item. An endothermic peak between 300°C and 400°C was observed. The effect was due to reaction and/or decomposition of the test item. After the experiment, an orange/brown molten residue remained in the sample container. 

DSC EXPERIMENT 2

To investigate the melting peak, Experiment 2 was stopped after the endothermic peak at 175°C. The extrapolated onset temperature of the melting peak was 154.893°C. After the experiment, a colourless molten residue remained in the sample container. Based on this, it was concluded that the endothermic peak was due to melting of the test item.

DATA HANDLING

The melting temperature was determined as the mean extrapolated onset temperature of Experiment 1 and Experiment 2.

 

Conclusions:
The melting temperature of the substance was determined to be 155.1°C.

Executive summary:

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) experiments were performed in a GLP study according to EC A.1, OECD 102 and OPPTS 830.7200.

The melting temperature of the substance was determined in duplicate obtaining a mean value of 155.1°C. During heating from 25°C reaction and/or decomposition of the substance started at 300°C.
