Surface tension:
57.5 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
90 vol%

Any other information on results incl. tables

The mean results were based on the last five readings that had reached a plateau were as follows:

Mean Sample 1 result : 56.9 mN/m pH of Sample 1 : 6.0

Mean Sample 2 result : 57.8 mN/m pH of Sample 2 : 6.0

Overall result : 57.5 ± 1.0 mN/m

Overall temperature : 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC

Discussion:

According to criteria stated in EC Method A.5, substances showing a surface tension lower than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this method should be regarded as being surface active.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension of the test item at nominally 90 % saturation in water has been determined to be 57.5 ± 1.0 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. The test item was considered to be surface-active.
Executive summary:

Surface Tension: 57.5 ± 1.0 (90% saturated solution) at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC, using a ring method, designed to be compatible with Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. The test item was considered to be surface-active.
