Details on results:
n-Octanol solubility

After stirring for 50 hours, the test solution with a nominal concentration of 1059 g/L was a clear solution without undissolved test substance. Based on this, it was concluded that the solubility of Standolized linseed oil in n-octabol at 19.9 +/- 0.8°C is > 1000 g/l.

Water solubility
Information on the water solubility of the test substance is given in section 4.8. The water solubility was < 1 x 10-3 g/l.

Conclusions:
Partition coefficient
The estimation method was used for the determination of the Pow of Standolized linseed oil. The Pow and log Pow value of the test substance at 20°C was calculated from the n-octanol solubility and the water solubility to be > 1 x 10^6 and > 6.

Additional information

For the determination of the log Kow of linseed oil polymerized, which is as soybean oil polymerized a mixture of several compounds, the HPLC method was considered the best method for determination of the partition coefficient. This method however proved not applicable as the substance was not soluble in polar solvents at sufficiently high concentration. Instead, the estimation method (concentration of linseed oil polymerized in octanol / concentration of linseed oil polymerized in water) was used for the determination of the Pow.

At 19.9 +/- 0.8°C, the n-octanol solubility of linseed oil polymerized was concluded to be > 1000 g/l. This value is read across to soybean oil polymerized.

Information on the water solubility of soybean oil polymerized was derived from the test in section 4.8 of IUCLID. The water solubility described was < 1.15 x 10-4 g/L.

The Pow and log Pow value of soybean oil polymerized at 20°C calculated from the n-octanol solubility and the water solubility is expected to be > 8.7 x 10^6 and >6.9, respectively.
