no
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 121 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)
Type of method:
HPLC estimation method
Media:
soil/sewage sludge
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Storage: Controlled room temperature (15-25 °C, below 70 RH%)
Radiolabelling:
not specified
Test temperature:
25 °C
Details on study design: HPLC method:
- Type, material and dimension of analytical (guard) column: Lichrospher 100 CN, 250×4.6 mm, 5μm
- Detection system: 220 nm (standard), 340 nm (test item)

MOBILE PHASES
- Type: Acetonitrile: ultrapure water = 1:1

REFERENCE SUBSTANCES
- Identity: Sodium nitrate, Acetanilide, Methyl benzoate, Linuron, Naphthalene, Fenthion, α-Endosulfan, 4,4’-DDT

Key result
Type:
log Koc
Value:
< 1.25 dimensionless
Temp.:
25 °C
Matrix:
soil or sewage sludge matrices
Details on results (HPLC method):
- Retention times of reference substances used for calibration: Sodium nitrate 1.49 min, Acetanilide 4.08 min, Methyl benzoate 5.02 min, Linuron 5.9 min, Naphthalene 6.55 min, Fenthion 7.85min, α-Endosulfan 9.21 min, 4,4’-DDT 12.98 min,
- Details of fitted regression line: log k' vs. log Koc)
- Average retention data for test substance: B331 0.97 min
Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
The test item eluted before the deadtime standard (sodium nitrate), therefore an accurate value of log Koc could not be given.
The calculated log Koc: <1.25

Description of key information

An accurate determination of the Koc / log Koc could not be obtained. The log Koc is estimated to be < 1.25

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An adsorption coefficient determination was conducted using the HPLC method (CiToxLAB, 2017, Study 15/361 -386AN) to calculate the soil adsorption coefficient for B331. THe determination was conducted according to EC method C19 and OECD test guideline 121, and in compliance with GLP.

In the HPLC determination the test item peak eluted before the deadtime standard therefore an accurate value could not be calculated. It is estimated that the logKoc <1.25.
