Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
According the § 9.3.1, column 2 of the Annexe VIII of REACH regulation, the study does not need to be conducted because based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient).

As specified in the ECHA technical Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (version 6.0 of July 2017) on page 154, the cutoff value of log Kow = 3 can be applied for adsorption potential. The value of log Kow is much lower than 3.

Furthermore, it could be noted that the substance strontium acetate is considered readily biodegradable since the organic part (acetate) is used as control substance in OECD tests for ready biodegradability. This is the reason why, in practice, we can also consider that the substance and relevant degradation products decompose rapidly in the environement.
