Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acute ecotoxicity results are available for members of the category, including terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine oil, alpha-pinene fraction, oligomers (fish, Daphnia and algae), terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine oil, beta-pinene fraction dimers and trimers (Daphnia), terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine-oil, limonene fraction, 1-methyl-4-(1-methylethenyl)cyclohexene and turpentine-oil beta-pinene fraction terpenes, dimers and trimers (Daphnia) and Terpenes and terpenoids, turpentine-oil, alpha-pinene fraction, dimers and trimers. All studies were conducted using water accommodated fractions and determined EL50 values above a loading rate of 100 mg/L, indicating that no acute effects would be expected at the limit of solubility for any of the category members.

Conclusion on classification

Acute ecotoxicity studies determined no effects at the limit of solubility for any of the category members, therefore an acute environmental classification is not required. However, substances in this category are poorly soluble, not readily biodegradable and have partition coefficient ranges above 4. As no chronic ecotoxicity studies are available for members of this category, an Aquatic chronic category 4 safety net classification is assigned to all members of this category.
