Executive summary:

The Present study was conducted to determine the Oxidizing properties of Cyanogen Bromidesponsored byLibor Bachura Vyzkum A Vyrobaat Bioscience Research Foundation, India by followingEuropean Economic Community (EEC) method for Directive 92/69/ Oxidizing properties A.17 guideline.

Calibration usingsieved cellulose under 125µm sieve and dried at 105°C for 4 hours. The dried test substance was thoroughly mixed with the barium nitrate in 60 proportions of barium nitrate and 40 proportion of cellulose in the ratio of (60:40 % w/w). The reference mixture was filled into funnel stem and allowed to ignite in a cone shaped pile using flame. The vigorous reactions (splattering & spark) and the burning distance was 200 mm up to 4 seconds of flame exposure was observed.

Cyanogen Bromidewas grinded and sieved under 125µ sieve and dried at 105°C for 10 minutes. The dried test substance was thoroughly mixed with the dried cellulose in two proportions of test substance and one proportion of cellulose in the ratio of (2:1). The test mixture was filled into funnel stem and allowed to ignite in a cone shaped pile using flame. The vigorous reactions (splattering & spark) and the burning distance was 11 mm up to 2 minutes of flame exposure and even after 4 minutes of observation. Hence, the test substance was determined to have no Oxidizing properties.
