Melting and Boiling Point (DSC)

The test item showed an endothermic effect in the temperature range of 30 – 150 °C, which can be assigned to a drying of the test item (water content 6.89 %). An exothermic effect was observed in the temperature range of 170 – 270 °C, with an average decomposition energy of approx. -70 J/g. A second endothermic was detected in the temperature of 270 – 350 °C. No further thermal effects could be observed up to the maximum test temperature of 500 °C.

During the heating phase the test item showed no endothermic effects up the decomposition of the test item starting at a temperature of approx. 170 °C that can be assigned to a melting of the test item. Due to this result the test item has no melting and boiling point up to its decomposition starting at a temperature of approx. 170 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item Leuco Sulphur Black 11 has no boiling point up to its decomposition starting at a temperature of approx. 170 °C as determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.2., OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995) and EPA OCSPP 830.7220 (1996).
