Justification for classification or non-classification

On the basis of the results of the acute oral toxicity study and in conformity with the criteria given in Annex I of Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 the substance should be classified into category 4 for acute oral toxicity (H302).

No study is available to investigate the acute toxicity of the test item via inhalation. In an acute dermal toxicity study, no rats showed signs of poisoning to a dose of 2000 mg/kg bw.

However, based on accidental exposure information (please refer to section 7.12) and according to the precautionary principle, the substance is classified as acute toxicity category 3 for the inhalation and dermal routes of exposure (H310 and H311), and the inclusion of the precautionary statement H284 "wear respiratory protection" is advised.
