Allyl Isothiocyanate displays excellent solubility in ethanol.
0.5 ml each of a mixture of Allyl Isothiocyanate and ethanol were mixed thoroughly in sealed bottles and stored for two weeks at 4, 28 or 40°C.
Allyl Isothiocyanate content was measured by Gas Chromatography after one day and again after two weeks of storage.
The sample stored at 4°C was kept in storage until the sixth month, when its composition was analyzed by GC/MS.

In the presence of ethanol, Allyl Isothiocyanate decomposed more rapidly. When stored at 40°C, about 15% decomposed in 2 weeks. Even at 4°C, measurement by GC/MS showed that ethyl allyl thiocarbamate had formed over 26% of the surface area after 6 months of storage

Conclusions:
In the presence of ethanol, Allyl Isothiocyanate produced an additional compound (ethyl allyl thiocarbamate), therefore a mixture of teh test item with ethanol is not feasible as basis for a pratical preparation of Allyl Isothiocyanate.
