The log Kocs of1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, tris(C14-alkyl) ester and1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, tris(C15 -alkyl) ester, representing 1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, tris(C14-15-alkyl) esters

were estimated with the program US EPA EPI Suite (v 4.10), program component KOCWIN (v 2.00). Using a correlation based on molecular connectivity index, the log Koc were determined to be 10.706 (Koc = 1E+010 L/kg), resp. 11.488 (Koc = 1E+010 L/kg). Using a correlation based on Kow, the log Koc was 10.344 (Koc = 2.21E+010 L/kg), resp. 11.163 (Koc = 1.455E+011 L/kg). The high Koc values indicate a distinct potential of

1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, tris(C14-15-alkyl) esters

to accumulate in soil and sediment.

The McCall classification scheme classifies the substances as immobile in soil (Koc > 5000).

This result is supported with an adsorption/desorption study according to OECD 121 with the analogue substance tri(hexyl, octyl, decyl)citrate.

The test substance eluted as three evaluated components:

11.5% by peak area eluted at a shorter retention time than that of the void volume marker compound formamide, and the log Koc value cannot therefore be defined.

73.4% by peak area eluted at a retention time equivalent to a log Koc value of 5.5 (KOC = 316228), and within a 95% confidence area of 5.0 to 6.3.

15.1% by peak area eluted at a retention time equivalent to a log Koc value of 6.5 (KOC = 3162278), and within a 95% confidence area of 5.8 to 7.5.
