Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Preliminary test

At 227.0°C when heated at 10.0 ˚C per minute change in color was observed from yellow to brown at the lower end of the capillary (the beginning of decomposition),  at 250.0 ˚C the level of substance increased. At 260 ˚C change in color to beige and next again to brown was observed.

Final test

The three series of boiling point measurements were performed in the temperature range 217.0 - 400.0 °C. The heating rate was 0.5 °C/min.

In sample number 3 at 217.0 ˚C stratification of tested substance took place, in sample number 2 change the tint to yellowish-brown at 218.1 ˚C was observed, sample number 1 started to change the tint to beige at 221.0 ˚C. At 227.0 ˚C characteristic smell indicating the thermal decomposition of the sample was observed.

Conclusions:
DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) decomposes below melting and boiling point under atmospheric pressure of 1000.7 hPa at 218.7 ± 2.1 °C (the average value).
(Methods: EEC A.1 and OECD No. 102; EEC A.2 and OECD No. 103)
Executive summary:

In accordance OECD Guideline 102 and 103, determination of the melting point and boiling point of DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) was carried out. The preliminary study and measurements were performed under atmospheric pressure of 1000.7 hPa. The study was carried out in order to determine the melting temperature range for DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) (50.0 – 400.0°C).

The three series of boiling point measurements (final test) were performed in the temperature range 217.0 - 400.0 °C. The heating rate was 0.5 °C/min. For all three samples the thermal decomposition was observed. The average value of initial  decomposition temperature for the three samples  of DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) is 218,7 ± 2,1 °C.

Description of key information

DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) decomposes below melting and boiling point under atmospheric pressure of  1000.7 hPa at 218.7 ± 2.1 °C  (the average value). (Methods: EEC A.1 and OECD No. 102; EEC A.2 and OECD No. 103). The average value of initial  decomposition temperature for the three samples  of DTPA-FeK (FeDTPA K) is 218,7 ± 2,1 °C.
