Conclusion on Classification:

In the absence of adequate chronic aquatic toxicity information from all three trophic levels, the classification was based on the lower of the short-term aquatic toxicity values available from two trophic levels (72-h ErC50= 0.76 mg/L in algae, 48 -h EC50 = 1.8 mg/L in daphnids). The substance was found to be readily biodegradable in a CO2evolution test (100% degradation in 28 days, meeting the 10-day window). The octanol-water partition coefficient was predicted through QSAR modelling to be log Kow = 5.91. Although the bioconcentration factor (BCF) predicted through QSAR modelling was 156 L/kg (i.e., below the classification threshold of BCF ≥ 500), an experimentally-determined value for bioconcentration factor was not available; thus, the classification was based upon the predicted value for octanol-water partition coefficient. Therefore, the substance was assigned a classification of Category Acute 1 and Category Chronic 1 for hazards to the aquatic environment, each with an M-factor of 1.
