2 -Hydroxyethyl palmitate (CAS 4219 -49 -2) is considered to be readily biodegradable, but failing the 10 day window. Because the time window is consequently not considered applicable (OECD, 2006; guidance on the
application of CLP* criteria, version 5.0: II.2.1.2, page 564) the substance is considered readily biodegradable. According to this data, and biodegradability of read-across relevant substanbces, 2 -Hydroxyethyl palmitate is expected to be rapidly degraded by microorganisms in both the aquatic and terrestrial environments as well.
