Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC10 (18 h) = 883 mg/L (ISO 10712), therefore no toxic effects on microorganisms are to be expected (read across).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available for Fatty acids, C18 -22 (CAS 90990 -11 -7). Therefore ecotoxicological effects are predicted from adequate and reliable data for source substance(s) by read-across to the target substance within the group applying the group concept in accordance with Annex XI, Item 1.5, of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

For Fatty acids, C18 -22 read-across is performed to a study conducted with stearic acid C18 (CAS 57 -11 -4) one of the main components of the blend. The cell multiplication inhibition test was conducted following GLP-requirements (Coenen, 1989). The used method in the test was similar to the ISO guideline 10712. In the study an EC10(18 h) of 883 mg/L (nominal) was reported.

Taking into account the results of this study also fatty acids, C18 -22 is regarded to be not toxic to microorganisms up to the limit of water solubility.
