Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200

Description of key information

Non explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to the REACH Regulation Annex VII Column 2 (EC n. 1907/2006): The study does not need to be conducted if the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen and the calculated oxygen balance is less than –200. The oxygen balance of the substance results -335, therefore the test was not conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the definition set out in the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) An explosive substance or mixture is a solid or liquid substance or mixture of substances which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings. Pyrotechnic substances are included even when they do not evolve gases. Since the oxygen balance is less then -200 the test was not conducted and the substance is considered as not explosive.
