- Method of application to soil surface (if used): 5 g test substance were mixed with 95 g soil and dilutions of 3 : 10 and 1 : 10 were made. 10 g of each dilution were cooled by liquid air and together with deep frozen soil (150 g / vessel / concentration) homogenized. In a next step, the soil was mixed with the remaining amount of soil of 508 g.

Additional information

As no study on toxicity to soil organisms is available for alcohol ethoxylate C16, <2.5EO (CAS 9004-95-9), a category read-across is prepared to an analog alcohol ethoxylate (C16-18, 10 EO, CAS 61791-28-4). The study was conducted according to OECD guideline 207 under GLP conditions, with the earthworm Eisenia fetida as test organism (BASF, 1990). Up to the highest test concentration of 1000 mg/kg dw. no mortality was observed.
