Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From September 04, 2017 to October 31, 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
not specified
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Remarks:
The test substance melted, no propagation or smouldering was observed

Result

During the study, the test substance melted, but no propagation or smouldering was observed. In the preliminary screening test, the test substance was seen not to ignite and therefore the study author concluded that no further testing is required.

Interpretation of results:
other: CLP criteria not met
Conclusions:
Under study conditions, the test substance was determined to be not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the flammability of the test substance, 'di-C16-18 -satd. and C18-24-unsatd. AAEMIM-MS' according to EU Method A.10, in compliance with GLP. During the study, the test substance melted, however, no ignition, propagation or smouldering was observed along the test substance train. In the preliminary screening test, the test substance was seen not to ignite and therefore, the study author concluded that no further testing is required. Under study conditions, the test substance was determined to be not highly flammable (Chilworth, 2017).

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

The flammability of the test substance was determined according to EU Method A.10 (Chilworth, 2017).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the preliminary study, the test substance melted, and no ignition, propagation or smouldering was observed along the test substance train. Therefore, the study author concluded that no further testing was required. Under the study conditions, the test substance was considered not to be highly flammable and not classified based on the EU CLP criteria (Regulation 1272/2008/EC).
